Exhibition Opening Event: Artists In Residence, Dorking

Friday 1st October, 6pm to 9pm, St Martins Walk, Shopping Centre, Dorking, RH4 1PQ
Artists Ackroyd & Harvey, Anne Brodie and Amanda Loomes come together for their first joint exhibition held in their hometown in ‘Artists in Residence, Dorking’.
The artists have well established reputations and have been the recipients of numerous international awards and prizes.
'Artists in Residence, Dorking’ challenges the artists to make a new body of work in response to their hometown and surrounding locale whilst considering the implications of a long-term residency with regard to habit and habitat. At a time when our culture is in the process of realising the value of local sustainability, the project questions what local means to these artists.
Mole Valley District Council have been actively involved in supporting the project and will be working with the artists to transform a vacant shop into a temporary gallery to be launched during the Mole Valley Arts Alive Festival.
A series of talks in conjunction with arc will be held during the exhibition including Jonathan Parsons in conversation with the artists on Saturday 9 October at 7pm and Mark Segal in conversation with Anne Brodie and amanda Loomes on Thursday 14 October at 7pm.
