Despite these bleak economic times (including over 50% cut in our funding) aspex is determined to mark our 30th birthday on Saturday 11 June with an Austerity Carnival.
The fun will begin with the official opening by the Lord Mayor at 11am. There will then be a range of competitions and activities which we hope will also raise some cash to go towards our programme of children's and artists' workshops and events. There will be an opportunity for children (and adults) to create party outfits and decorate the gallery with bunting and at 2pm there will be a parade of everyone in their costumes. arc - the artists' resource centre - will be filled with hot air for the day (not such an unusual occurrence, but this time it will be in balloons!), The Pompey Pluckers ukelele band will be performing at 1.30pm, there will be birthday cake and at the end of the day there will be aspex party bags to take home!
We really hope you will all come along to have some fun and donate your spare change! And if anyone would like to help out, then just let me know - email phyl@aspex.org.uk.
